Cliniko sits at the centre of most allied health clinics, so the integration is built to keep the Cliniko diary and the Gohighlevel calendar in step in both directions without anyone re-typing a booking. When an appointment is created, moved, cancelled or marked as a no-show in Cliniko, the matching Gohighlevel contact and appointment update within seconds, and bookings made through a Gohighlevel calendar or Voice AI agent appear in Cliniko against the right practitioner and business.
Setup is configuration, not development. You generate a secure Universal Plugins key from your Cliniko API key, choose which Cliniko businesses and practitioners map to which Gohighlevel calendars, install the custom fields so appointment details land in usable places, then paste the webhook URL into Cliniko to activate the sync.
Once the connection is live, everything else is ordinary Gohighlevel work: reminder sequences, recall campaigns, intake forms, review requests and reporting all read from fields that stay current because the diary feeds them.
How the Cliniko connection behaves day to day
Once the integration is live, reception carries on working in Cliniko exactly as before. A booking taken over the phone, a time moved to next Tuesday, a cancellation, a no-show marked after the fact - each one reaches Gohighlevel within seconds and updates the contact, the appointment and the appointment custom fields. Nothing needs to be entered twice, and no one has to remember to keep the CRM current.
The reverse direction matters just as much. An appointment created from a Gohighlevel calendar, a form, or a Voice AI agent is written into Cliniko against the correct business, practitioner and appointment type, so the practitioner's diary remains the single source of truth for who is being seen and when.
What you need before you start
You need administrator access to the Cliniko account so you can generate an API key and save a webhook, and access to the Gohighlevel sub-account where the clinic lives so you can install the plugin and create custom fields. It helps to know in advance which Cliniko businesses and practitioners should map to which Gohighlevel calendars, particularly for practices with several locations or a mix of services.
Your Cliniko API key is exchanged for a secure Universal Plugins key rather than kept in plain text, and a connection can be revoked from the dashboard at any time without touching your Cliniko account.
